Unibap AB (publ) will develop the next-generation space computer for artificial intelligence and onboard data processing from the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA). The development begins immediately with the ambition to present a demonstrator in the 2nd quarter of 2020. SNSA contributes SEK 2 million. The ambition is to increase the performance 50 times compared to the current computer generation and enable cloud-based business models on space systems. Revenue recognition will be done during fall 2019 and spring 2020.
Unibap will carry out the development in close collaboration with the American Moog Inc as strategic partner as previously announced. The development is based on Unibap's existing architecture, with large synergies with Unibaps digitalization solutions for smart plants.
Unibap's SpaceCloud-solutions offer many types of intelligent data- and information processing based on machine learning.
- It is very inspiring to take this leap with lessons from several years in space and feedback from customers towards smart space systems. Increasing the performance 50 folds compared to our current solutions is indeed challenging and matches the ambitions of our talents and partners, says Dr. Fredrik Bruhn, CEO of Unibap.
The Swedish National Space Agency sees a great value in applying AI technology directly onboard the space platforms. It represents a big enhancement for data exploitation and will provide significant social benefits.
