Following the successful development of SpaceCloud Framework within the ESA InCubed programme that was concluded in December 2020 Unibap is continuing its development of SpaceCloud within ESA's Space Solution initiative.

The project will demonstrate how containerized, third-party applications perform on-board processing of Earth Observation data within SpaceCloud Framework running on SpaceCloud Hardware. Benefits include access to low latency data products, reduced cost of data downlink, and simplified application development within fields such as precision agriculture, crisis management, forest fire detection, oil spill and data communication. SaraniaSat will be the main application partner, following the successful demonstration of high-performance analysis of satellite imagery.

Unibap will perform business development activities to partner with more application developers, ground segment providers, payload providers, and satellite integrators and operators to increase the SpaceCloud ecosystem.

- We are now taking the company's biggest step so far in terms of the rollout of SpaceCloud services and paving the way for the entire industry with the rollout of cloud services in space, just the same way everyone is used to cloud services on earth. We are very pleased that ESA is deepening its support of Unibap and thus the SpaceCloud vision. This is proof that previous demonstrations have shown a potential for commercialization that is considered strategic for Europe. Furthermore, this follows from the fact that ESA has delivered several SpaceCloud Apps for the already communicated maiden SpaceCloud in-orbit space demonstration with D-Orbit on the ION SCV-003 mission in Q2 2021.
